In the late 1970s, Craig Hendrickson (the "H" in "H-O
Racing...")
designed and engineered a turbocharger installation package for
"Gen 2" Firebirds called TurboFORCE.
This turbo setup added enormous performance to Trans Am, et al, but
has been discontinued since the early 1980s. Recently, two used
TurboFORCE packages turned up in Texas. To make things more
interesting, Edelbrock displayed at the SEMA show (Nov 2003) an
Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) setup (available spring 2004) for the
original Pontiac V-8 which was discontinued by GM in 1980. Also at
the SEMA show were other significant advances in boosted performance,
including compact, efficient intercoolers. Combining these
developments with the ever increasing popularity of the "Gen
2" Firebird among Pontiac enthusiasts and restorers, Craig
Hendrickson has decided to revive TurboFORCE and bring it into the
21st century. Follow the links below for more information.
